Ident Feedback

Feedback from Family & Friends

After completing my channel ident for MTV with my group, I needed to get feedback on it, so I decided to get feedback from my family and friends. I decided to use them for my feedback as I want it to be honest and critical, and family friends seemed like the best choice as my friends are the ages of our target audience.

The questions I asked were:
- What were your thoughts on the animation?
- What was your favourite part of the ident?
- Do you think it is suitable for the target audience which is 14-30?
- Could you see this ident on televison?
- What are your thoughts on the soundtrack?
- Could you spot any imperfections or anything we could improve on?
- Do you have any comments on the camera work?

From the feedback we recieved mixed opinions. Overall, the majority of the people said they really enjoyed it, but we were given a lot of advice on how to improve it. One improvement that was mentioned by my Mum was "there wasn't enough MTV in there, maybe should have added the logo at the end". I definitly took this into consideration as I knew we should have put in a logo to show the brand name, but because of our not so good time management in the group, we ran out of time, but I will take this advice on board to help me in the future.

A lot of people seemed to enjoy the soundtrack. My friend Becca said she "liked the blend of dubstep and Christmas at the beginning, followed by a well known chart track". "It made me want to get up and dance myself" - said my friend Hannah. The sleighbells were also commented on, saying "it really gave the Christmas-y touch to it". We were pleased that the audience enjoyed the soundtrack, because we did spend a fair bit of time thinking about what we should use. Although we didn't use an original soundtrack, by combining different songs and sounds together created, personally, a well finished track.

We had mixed opinions on the camera work. Mainly everyone said it was clean, and "the images flowed together really well", but we were also told the angle wasn't so great. My brother said "when the girl is dancing infront of the wall, the camera was slightly low, which made the proportions look out. You should've had it slightly higher". We definitly took on board this comment, and it was a useful tip as at the time, we didn't think about that.

Overall, we were pleased with the feedback, both the positive and the negative. We know that if we would of planned it better and sorted out our schedule properly, we would have fixed the imperfections inorder to make it better.

Promoting Our VideoAs part of concluding our feedback, I sent our video to MTV, hoping they would reply and give us some feedback:
